“Who lives in a pineapple under the sea”…
Technically no one, since this is scientifically impossible. However! If you suspend your disbelief enough to agree that, say, a sponge can talk and be a chef, then you might actually want to take a trip to Mr. Crabs Krusty Crab in Bikini Bottom. OK, we admit it, Bikini Bottom is a fictitious place – it seems, however, that the Krusty Crab has taken a step into reality!
Restaurant chain Salta burgers has officially soft-opened their new concept fast food restaurant called “Krusty Crab”. It is modelled from the Sponge Bob Square Pants cartoon eatery and seems to have taken the IP quite seriously in its detail.
Though there are obvious nods to the theming being put together with a lower budget than its bigger competitors, the company seems to have done very well with the IP and we look forward to seeing how popular an attraction like this will be. The outside does leave some theming to be desired, however the zoning restrictions would probably frown upon a a giant lobster trap being built.
The menu is set to reflect similar choices to that of its animated counterpart with what we assume will be enough alterations to the ingredients to keep both health inspectors and salmonella away.
Admittingly the location in Ramallah, Palestine could put a slight damper on their opening, considering the conflicts the country is going through. That, however, is a different story for a different website. We had mentioned this story previously on Twitter as a “watch this space” article, so it is nice to see it coming to fruition.
We wish them the best of luck and on a legal note, hope they have gotten legal permission from Nickelodeon for the use of the SBSP IP. Otherwise, with the attention the chain has received, this may be a short lived venture.
